Stone Rapids

1: Shrine 1-2: Priest’s quarters
Shrine to the Celestial Pheonix. The Priest is Alero Attis, a kindly yet sometimes stern man in his early 30s. He is currently looking for an apprentice. It is roumerd that Alero studied as a monk and was a member of the Lotus Order, The Emperor’s personal bodyguard, until he lost his right eye in the course of his duties. It is mostly ignored as why a man of such high station should choose to be stationed here is unknown. Rumors persist that the Shrine was set up to contain a great evil from the Chaos lands 700 years ago.
2: Inn/Tavern
Owned by a pudgy husband and wife team the their gaggle of children. Mareen, the patriarch of the pack is balding and friendly, he is the most popular man in town. Keiko, the family matriarch, is a mothering soul known to take in any sick animal, person or child. 3 of the children working at the inn were acquired in such a way. The eldest child is 25 and has just opened the brewery. He already has a steady clientle as far as Betai.
3: Tannery 3-2: Cattle Pen
Xenga Tanner runs this shop with his 3 daughters. A pen out back contains the spavined or broken down cattle and horses to be made into leather and glue. Quality leather armor is made here as well.
4: Blacksmith
Will is a foreigner with hair as yellow as corn. He is a giant of a man standing well over 6 foot. Nobody knows where he came from, we just arrived one day from the north, talked with the, then current blacksmith, and took over. He has married to Samaii and has 2 children, a son, Mathew, and a daughter, Malda,e5 both appear to take after their father. most work done here is common household work, from utensils to door nobs, to horse shoes. Though Will himself does not actually shoe horses, customers in search of shoeing are sent to the wagon wright. Rumors abound that Will is a Master Smith from his homeland and posseses the skills to make amazing weapons. It is said that he knows secrets of forging unknown to the rest of the Empire. As such his children have had many offers for marriage. Will and his wife ignore the customs of arranged marriage in favor of letting thier children choose whom they love.
5: Sundries and Dry Goods
This is a store owned and operated by Old Mar’yaan. She has been running things since her husband died of an illness over 30 years ago. Her two daughters have married to well off farmers from a nearby village. It was suspected that when Mar’yaan passed the store would be closed, but recently two of her grandsons have come to help run the store. It is well known that they are looking to take over the store if Mar’yann does ever decide to retire.
6: Wagon Wright
Wagon Master Alzarion Bassitis is known far and wide for his skilled work. He is also the local ferriere. He is in his mid 30s and has made several propositions toward the daughter of the local blacksmith. There is no love there and it is clear hat his only interest is in combining his shop with the blacksmith for monetary gain. He has made several generous offers to Will, but does not understand the foreign man’s reluctance to honor the custom of arranged marriage.
The Wagon Wright also doubles as the Imperial Courier way point.
7: Mage Tower
Lord Mage Killukzen and his three apprentices, Manna, the eldest male at 15, Jammia, the younger male of 9 and Yourichi the one girl of 13 years old, live in the mage tower. Killukzen rarely leaves his tower, only when he receives a summons or to check on the Ward Walls. The three apprentices are often seen in the village on errands for their master or on the little time off from thier studies they receive. They are known to do simple magic work for the townsfolk in exchange for goods and services.
8: Apple Orchard
The apple orchard was originally in the possession of the Sariyo family until their destruction. It has fallen into the hands of Lord Masaki and is currently tended by the Yadyaa family.
9: Militia Barracks
A contingent of fighting men under the Lord Master’s command. They mobilize to defend the village and roads from bandits, monsters and the like. They are a well organized team of troops, and well trained with working with BattleDragons. Captian Hollien Kepteson, Grandson of the Imperial Hero, Garm Kepeston, in in command of 200 infantry and 50 mounted troops.
10: Militia Training Field
On any given day it is possible to see the troops, Dragons of a combination of both training in this field. They do both precision marching drills as well as armed combat practice here. Currently Captain Kepeston is looking for a place to build an obstacle course for his troops.
11: Miller
Tomorah Miller, a short chubby balding man, and his wife, Magnalla, a tall willowy, pinch faced woman, run the local mill. The mill itself is run by a water wheel in the local river. Both the Millers are taken with their own importance in the village and belive that they are the single most important people in town, after the Lord Master of course. They have a distinct dislike for the Blacksmith as he is a forginer and his family, as they must be somehow “tainted”. Tomorah intends to become the new mayor as the former mayor has recently passed.
12: Baker
Betta is the daughter of the last baker and former mayor. She is 16 years old but already an accomplished baker. Her pastries had gained fame throughout the county as ihey have won at the County Faire for the passed 5 years straight. Now that she has been forced to take over after her father’s death Betta has had little time to cook for fun, as her father had yet to teach her how to run a business. Several men have made overtures to wed, but as far Betta has either seen through the attempts of seduction or has been just too flaming busy!
13: Cobbler
Zabaktu, a rat faced little man and his small family run this small shoe shop. The shoes and boots they make are of good quality and Zabaktu makes a fair living. The entire family seems very timid and shy, not going out much nor socializing. They recently set up the shop only 2 years ago, which may explain the shyness in such a small community.
14: Battle Dragon House
Home of the Lord Master’s contingent of BattleDragons. The current champion is Gorami, a well skilled swordsdragon. The DragonLeader is Dugent Milliger, an unusual case of a noble willingly working with Dragons and the orphans conscripted as the DragonBoys, the BattleDragon’s human partners. Currently there is a single squad of 8 Dragons and their Boys.
15: Doctor Tyree’s Home
A skilled doctor from the city. It is unknown why he moved to such a remote village. He is a consummate man of science, he barley believes in magic, let alone herbal remedies. He has started a smear campaign against Old Marja. He has started rumors that she is a witch or a changeling (ironic in that he doesn’t believe in changelings.)
16: House of Old Marja, Herbalist and Midwife
Old Marja has been living in the village and delivering babies as long as can be remembered. She is easily the eldest person in the village and looks it. She is a small, shriveled woman, yet her blue eyes are bright and piercing. When ever she looks at someone, it is like she can peer into their soul itself. She alone has birthed every member of the Masaki family currently alive, as well as almost the entire village itself. She seems unconcerned about the rumors Doctor Tyree has started.
17: Sariyo Mansion
An abandoned mansion. After it was found that the wealthy Sariyo family had been indulging in blood sacrifice in an effort for eternal youth and to bring Chaos back into the Empire Lord Amasur Masaki sent his troops in to arrest them all. Surprisingly, they resisted with foul demon magics and beasts summoned from the Lower planes. Lord Amasur rallied his troops, and with the arcane help of Mage Killkuzen, they broke the barriers and killed the entire Sariyo family, man, woman, and child, as none would be taken. In the final battle, underneath the Mansion, Lord Amasur was killed by a two year old child that ripped his throat out with it’s teeth. the basement was seal and collapsed. The building itself is slowly deteriorating and falling apart. The ruins are believed to be haunted, nobody goes anywhere near it. Children are known to dare each other touch it.
18:Yadyaa Family Home
The Yadyaa family consists of 13 people crammed into a small cottage. They the poorest people in the village. The entire family tend the apple orchards for the Lord Masaki.
19: Masaki Castle
The current Lord Magistrate for the county is Lord Togami Masaki. He ascended to the control of the Magistrate last year when he turned 16. His uncle had been holding the lands after the death of Togami’s father in the Sariyo raid. Togami is a bright young man, full of optimism. He has many plans for the town of Stone Rapids and the surrounding County. He views himself as a man of the people, always willing to listen to the common people.
